The 120 member New Jersey Legislature is composed of:
State Senate: 40 members
General Assembly: 80 members
There are 40 legislative districts in the State of New Jersey.
District 1 is at the southern tip of the state and District 40 is in the north.
Each legislative district has:
1 State Senator and 2 members of the General Assembly.
New Jersey Female Representation Statistics as of March 2007
- NJ ranks 35th in the nation for female representation in government.
- 19.5% of the NJ State Legislature is women.
- 57% of NJ's voters & 52% of NJ's population are women.
- O women serve in NJ's 15 member Congressional delegation.
- 1 female governor has served in our 218 year history.
