WAGG-NJ WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION AT STATEHOUSE A MOVING EXPERIENCE

the tribute honoring the late Senator Wynona Lipman, her life and her work, on the 35th Anniversary of her swearing-in as a member of the New Jersey
Senate was a moving experience for the nearly seventy-five guests and legislators present.
Guest speakers Senator Diane Allen, Senator Nia Gill, Senator Loretta Weinberg, Assemblywoman Sheila Oliver and Debbie Walsh, Director, Center for the
American Woman and Politics, Eagleton Institute gave personal and professional testimony of Lipman, a heroine for women in NJ politics. Each described
the soft spoken Lipman as a women of incredible fortitude and power. "Remember to use your power", Senator Gill recalled to the audience, Senator Lipman
advising her when she first took public office. A lesson which the women legislators present at the event each agreed, has served them well as they navigate
the political system.
WAGG-NJ President Myra Terry and President-Elect Joan M. Wright, gave opening remarks and former Assemblywoman Rose M. Heck, WAGG-NJ Women's History Month
Event Chair, MC'd the program.
